Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)

Original Medicare covers a lot, but not everything. Blue KC Medicare Supplement plans help with the rest, giving you more complete healthcare protection.

What is Medicare Supplement insurance?

Medicare Supplement insurance (also called Medigap) helps pay for some of those out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare (Parts A and B) doesn’t cover.

When you’re enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, a Medicare Supplement plan can help with expenses like deductibles, copays, and coinsurance that would otherwise come straight from your wallet. These plans are designed specifically with Kansas City seniors in mind, helping you get the most from your Medicare coverage.

A few things to know:

  • Medicare Supplement policies cover just one person, so spouses need separate plans
  • You’ll continue paying your Medicare Part B premium plus a separate premium for your Medigap coverage
  • Once enrolled, your plan automatically renews each year as long as you pay your premium

Coverage that works for you

While specific coverage details vary by plan and state, all of our Medicare Supplement plans help with these essential healthcare costs:

Hospital coverage

Get help with Part A coinsurance plus coverage for 365 additional days after Medicare benefits end. Some plans (K and L) may require you to pay a portion of the Part A deductible.

Medical expense coverage

Assistance with Part B coinsurance (typically 20% of Medicare-approved expenses) or copayments for hospital outpatient services. Plans K, L and N may require you to pay a portion of these costs.

Blood coverage

Coverage for the first three pints of blood each year. Plans K and L may require you to pay a portion of blood costs.

Hospice care coverage

Help with Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment. Plans K and L may require you to pay a portion of these costs.
